An old project revives, featuring a self-operated 3D portal device with three working levels: flat top, middle, and bottom. The framework is made from single sheet steel produced on a press brake and welded together. It's sandblasted and powder coated inside and out. Data formats include SolidWorks 2013 IGS and STEP. Additional parts and groups will be shared shortly. The actual working level is the level above, which can be assembled and tested upon request for outside operation. The middle level serves as a material fixation (centering vise) and a place to exchange autonomous tools from the tool magazine. The deepest level is utilized for machining workpieces such as assembly or manufacture from below, like soldering on electronic circuit boards from both sides in one go. This 3D portal machine is genuinely 3D; only tools that can connect themselves to it are used. This applies to media connections and power/data communication, suction of shavings and gases as well.
