The splitter, known as the differential, splits engine torque two ways, empowering each output to spin with distinct velocities. Found on every modern automobile and truck, this crucial device is also present in numerous all-wheel-drive (full-time four-wheel-drive) vehicles. Since car wheels spin at varied speeds, particularly when cornering, it's imperative that a mechanism exists to enable smooth movement.
