Automatic Self Watering Planter
thingiverse
This is a self watering planter that uses an Arduino Nano, a 5v relay, a small 5v water pump, and a capacitive soil moisture sensor. Parts required: 5v Relay: https://www.amazon.com/Valefod-1-Channel-Optocoupler-Isolation-Trigger/dp/B07WQH63FB/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=5v+relay&qid=1627245260&sr=8-4 Water Pump: (not exact one used but should work) https://www.amazon.com/Driew-3-5-9V-Submersible-Brushless-Waterproof/dp/B01CG2YE6K/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=5v+water+pump&qid=1627245362&sr=8-3 Arduino Nano: https://www.amazon.com/REXQualis-Board-ATmega328P-Compatible-Arduino/dp/B07WK4VG58/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=arduino+nano&qid=1627245495&sr=8-3 Moisture Sensor: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VRR24SN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 5/16 Vinyl tubing: https://www.amazon.com/10-Feet-Multipurpose-Kegerator-Aquaponics/dp/B01CGVJ9QG All parts were printed on an Ender 3 pro and an Artillery Genius. Directions: 1. Print all parts (no supports are required if orientation is correct) -I used 20% infill but it doesn't matter that much as long as it is water tight. -I printed all parts in PLA (Overture rock PLA and Overture black PLA) 2. Assemble Electronics -Place Arduino Nano in electronics box -Screw 5v Relay into electronics box -Strip water pump wires and feed the wires through the hole and place water pump in the base -Connect all components as shown in pictures above 3. Push the Vinyl tubing through the hole in the base and feed through the printed water tube and screw it onto the electronics lid from underneath. 4. Press the printed water tube to the edge of the base. 5. Feed the Moisture sensor cables through the soil moisture sensor casing and through the electronics box lid and screw down onto the electronics lid. 6. Screw the electronics lid onto the base. 7. Mine wasn't very waterproof so I covered the inside of the base with a waterproof glue. 8. Fit the printed water filler and cap onto the lid and place the cap onto the base. 9. Plug into a PC and use the Arduino IDE to flash the code in the txt file onto the Arduino Nano. Note: I did not design the amazing pot used in this design. It is by user SchulteGeileTechnik and it is thing: 4591435
