Automatic Power Off after print V2 - low voltage version
thingiverse
Hi! Have you considered adding a feature to automatically turn off your printer after each print job? I've found that this can really help reduce power waste and make my life easier. To get started, you'll need to modify your printer's PSU (Power Supply Unit) to accommodate the new arm and microswitch. This will require some electro-mechanical work, but don't worry, it's relatively straightforward. First, print out the provided arm using a 3D printer. You can use any material you like, but PLA is a good choice. Next, assemble the printed arm to your frame, making sure it's securely attached. Then, install the microswitch and bend its arm as shown in the pictures. This will ensure that the switch triggers when the Z motor and frame reach their maximum height. Now it's time for software adjustments! Add the "special" commands to your slicer's end sequence: * Disable M84 command with ";" * Add >G4 S300; wait 5mins to cool nozzle * Add >G0 Z250; go up to max height You can adjust these commands to suit your needs. For example, you might want to decrease the Z250 part if your printer is smaller than an Ender3. Print out a small test object and let it run until the frame goes up. Use a terminal or Octoprint to send the following commands: * G28 * G0 Z250 Adjust the printed arm with the microswitch to trigger it, and voila! Your printer should now automatically turn off after each print job. Congratulations, you're done! No more power waste for you! In case you need to start your printer again, simply push the frame down slightly. Power will be restored, and you can continue printing. I've included .stp files with the instructions if you want to modify or remix the design. Good luck, and happy printing!
