Automatic drainpipe cleaner (no electricity)
thingiverse
I participate with this in TheDesignChallenge at https://www.thingiverse.com/groups/thedesignchallenge/ on the theme Life Hack. ### Automatic drainpipe cleaner **Why?** One rainy day I watched water flowing out from a drainpipe, and I thought about wasted energy. It would be really cool to use that for something. I kept thinking about it nearly a year until this idea came up. Suddenly everything became clear. **What?** Automatic drainpipe cleaner keeps your drainpipes clear. It works on rainy weather using the potential energy of falling water. **Note:** This is a first prototype and doesn't work as well as I was hoping. After seeing it in action for some time, I'll determine all issues occurred and fix them in the next version. **Building the prototype** Besides all printed parts you will need: * Screws size M3 with variable lengths between 12mm to 30mm. **Tip:** Use nyloc nuts wherever possible. * Self-drilling screws * Ball bearings size 10mm x 15mm x 4mm * Some rope long enough (with a diameter of 5mm) * Aluminium pipes size 10mm x 1mm x 2000mm * Some rubber from bicycle inner tube * A house with drainpipes Building it involves putting all the parts together with a great amount of imagination and improvisation. **Videos and links** See it in action: Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QrFTtcoNIA Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nrghywcuFY Project pages: https://donald82.kapsi.fi/Projects/00023_AutomaticDrainpipeCleaner/ https://donald82.kapsi.fi/Projects/00025_AutomaticDrainpipeCleaner/ My project history and projects in progress: https://donald82.kapsi.fi/Projects/
