Automatic doorcloser for people who cant close the door after themself
thingiverse
Hello. One day my mom left the door open again and I called after her to close it, but she gave me an annoyed glare and said "Why doesn't this door close itself already?!" And just like that, the door closed behind her as she walked out, leaving me to process what had just happened. I'd only recently gotten my 3D printer and was eager to try using it for something practical. Instead of printing nice Thingiverse files to test the printer, I decided to challenge myself by coming up with a project from scratch. So I started building one. First, I measured our door and sketched out some ideas on paper. Then I fired up Inventor, which I don't usually use - I'm more of a SolidWorks person. When someone needs the files, I'll be happy to share them. The next day, I had an almost-guarantee glue-free door closer in place, held together with double-sided tape and operated by the weight of just a few marbles. My first prototype broke on me because the strap around the doorframe wasn't strong enough. But no worries - here comes version 2! My mom and dad were shocked and proud when they saw it, and I'm planning to add a glue-free version that will keep it securely in place on the door from now on.
