Hi there! This is my current project, an automatic coil winder. It's controlled by an Arduino Uno, so you just have to choose your number of windings and start it. What you need is an Arduino Uno (or similar) and a SainSmart LCD Keypad Shield http://www.sainsmart.com/sainsmart-uno-r3-lcd1602-keypad-shield-starter-kit-for-arduino-mega328p-au.html Additionally, there are two little modules to solder (or maybe you can buy some?) which are a motor driver (basically, a BS170 mosfet and two resistors) and a light switch (which too only needs two resistors). I Built it on stripe grid pcb. You will also need three 624ZZ bearings. And you will need a 37mm geared motor like this one http://de.aliexpress.com/store/product/DC-12V-motor-37GB-37MM-300RPM-High-powered-Torque-8-5KG-CM-high-torque-gear-box/1549033_32320818214.html I've put my clumsy source code into this thing and will rework it asap. Oh er.. you will need 12V power, too :) Post-Printing Just mount the motor into the motor stand. Leave the lower two screw holes free because they would disturb your light switch. Mount the stand on a wooden plate and put the but the coupling on the shaft (encoder wheel towards the motor) and fix it with two m3 screws. Leave some space towards the motor stand so you can put the light switch inside later. Next, put a bearing into the bearingmount and put the three jaw chuck on it. Put the shaft of the chuck on the coupling and fix the bearingmount on the plate. Now put two bearings into the idler wheel and screw it to the idler mount. Mount it on the plate but leave some space towards the chuck. (I got about 15cm which seems to work) You will also need something to hold your wire.. Haven't yet built something, just got a screw for it. Use it. Fix a coil corpus on the chuck Turn the wire two times around the coupling Thread the wire through the small hole at the lower side of the corpus Switch the machine on Choose your number of windings (left/right for decimal point choice, up/down for increment/decrement, select to start) Hold the end of the wire for a while to make shure that the wire stays where it has to. Wait until your windings are done
