Ensure the safety of your chickens with this automatic door opener, powered by the affordable and widely available BYJ48 stepper motor.This compact design lifts doors up to 900 grams. This is my second design, solving the problems that I had with the first one during 5 years of operation. The design omits sensors, avoiding their potential malfunctions. Instead, a simple mechanical stop is used. This makes the system more robust and reliable.The ectronics can be made without any soldering by using jumper wires.Micropython software is available as Eggcess GitHub project. And there's more to it than just chicken coops! The adaptability of this design allows for a range of applications, such as transforming it into an automated curtain opener.Note that you'll need 2x 608ZZ ball bearings to assemble the unit.
