Automated Sprouter Made from Plastic Container with Legs and Drain Attachment: A YouTube Video Guide To build an automated sprouter from any plastic container(s), you will need a store-bought outer container that measures 8" deep, 12" wide, and 9" tall. The legs enable the container to tilt towards one corner where a drain piece is installed. All parts are mounted on the outside for optimal results. A set of sprouter trays from Ikea is ideal for this project. You can purchase a three-pack of food-grade containers with lids that measure about 5" wide, 7" long, and 2" tall. To attach these trays to the container, use stainless steel pan-head bolts that are #4 x 1/4" in size. Six bolts and six nuts are required for this task. I used bolt depot products 6902 and 4115 for my project, as shown in the picture.
