*Work In Progress* **UPDATE 7/04/2019:** Simple text edits have been made. **UPDATE 7/14/2019:** A Work-in-progress video has been added. <h1>"Automated Sliding Glass Door"</h1> This documentation outlines my "Sliding Glass Door Automation" project. Not all components have been designed yet, with more to follow. My project goals include verbal commands: * "Alexa, Open the Slider" * "Alexa, Close the Slider" * "Alexa, Open the Slider for Tess" (Open about 12 inches, Tess is my Dog) These parts will automate the Sliding Glass Door, with three intended states: **Open**, **Close**, and **Open-for-Tess** only wide enough for the Dog to come in or out. Normally, the automated door will only be used to change room ventilation. For person access, the door will operate manually as normal, a clutch will disengage the motor. If all goes according to plan, I will automate the screen door as well. The motor and controller parts are on order. The Idle pulley will be mounted at the top, at the open side of the door jam, Sheet Rock screws will be used. The motor, clutch, and controller will be mounted on the other side of the door jam. The idea of the rotating mechanism is to provide slack line when needed to open the door manually. I am not sure how this will all come together yet. But, hopefully, I will be trial-installing this on the Slider today. I have found some slider mechanisms online that I may try to Hack with a Shelly-2.5 for control. **WARNING, WARNING:** the video contains active Alexa Audio Commands. More details to follow.
