Automata 1 Bill and Ben watering Flower

I enjoy taking a break from clocks during the Winter and trying something new, so this year I've started exploring Automata, discovering many fascinating designs but surprisingly few that utilize 3D printing. I began with the concept of a flower slowly raising its head to follow the Sun's movement across the sky, just like they often do in nature. I developed this idea into my first model, which features three motions powered by simple cams. This project incorporates characters based on Bill and Ben from the popular 1950s television puppet show. To adapt them for building on a 3D printer, I made some adjustments to their design. The original Weed character has been transformed into a Flower that lifts its flower head when Bill pours water on it using his watering can.
