Automag Benchmark Frame Wrap Around Grip

Wrap around grips for an Automag Benchmark 45 frame.

I started this project because I was getting a hot spot on the inside web of my thumb because of a fairly sharp corner on the Benchmark frame. I added "wings" to the back side of the grips to follow the curve of the grip and fill in this area to make a smoother transition. I also took this as an opportunity to experiment with modeling finger grooves and more organic smooth curves. The grip fits my hand perfectly and feels really nice.

Grip_Benchmark_Left and Grip_Benchmark_Right are the grip split into two halves. There is extra material where the two halves meet up when installed. This will need to be filed/sanded to fit. This is to accommodate printer/layer height differences. This way there won't be any gap between the halves. These need to be printed with supports.

Grip_Benchmark_Complete is the grip as one solid piece standing up. The various versions have different widths between the two sides, to accommodate printer tolerances. _0.760 has 0.760" between sides which is the nominal thickness of a Benchmark grip. Larger sizes can compensate for printers that print walls a little oversized/thick.

These will NOT fit a M1911 pistol. These grips do not have the appropriate counterbores/clearances for the grip bushings. Also the "wings" I've added would interfere with the thumb safety.

These may or may not fit other paintball 45 frames. I have designed these to match up with the exact profile and curves of the Benchmark Automag frame.

Uses standard 6-32 pan head or button head screws.

This is still a work in progress. I have not had a chance yet to print the version I have uploaded which includes my latest round of tweaks to the design.

STEP files included for anyone that wants to play around with the design. I can also supply SolidWorks format.
Category: Sport & Outdoors
