Autoclave system

An autoclave, a pressure chamber, sterilizes equipment by exposing it to high-temperature steam (around 132°C or 270°F) for approximately twenty minutes. Sterilization time varies with item quantity and size. High temperature, unique shape, and steam penetration efficiency make autoclaves effective sterilizers. Their cylindrical chambers handle high pressure needed for sterilization. Safety features include an outside lock and a safety valve to prevent overly high pressure. A vacuum pump removes air or introduces high-pressure steam before raising the temperature to 268-273°F, killing microorganisms. After the required sterilization time elapses, the chamber is exhausted for safe opening and contents cooling/drying.
