As with any machinery, there is always a risk of malfunction or fire, no matter how small. It's essential to have something in place to shut down the printer immediately. The device cuts off power to your printer when a wireless smoke detector senses smoke or a fire. Easy to use and operate, it works by using one transmitter to match multiple socket receivers or programming more than one transmitter for each socket. ### How to Build It To create this system, you'll need to purchase the following items: 1 × remote control power outlet with an isolated power supply and a 10A resettable fuse; 1 × smoke detector with a tiny optical sensor; and 1 × radio transmitter. The radio transmitter has two pins as well: GND (negative power supply) and VDD (positive power supply). To connect them correctly, solder the radio transmitter's GND/VDD line to the detector's S/V. When the smoke detector senses smoke or a fire, it will set the 'S' voltage from 3.3v to zero, triggering the 433MHz radio transmitter to send a signal to close the power socket. Turn on both the power socket and smoke detector (insert 2 AAA batteries). 2. Press and hold the power socket's button until the LED flashes. 3. Click the button on the smoke detector. 4. The LED on the power socket will flash quickly, indicating a successful pairing. Note: Both devices come pre-paired from the factory.
