My trusty $2 auto retractable dog leash lock mechanism gave up the ghost due to plastic fatigue in the ratchet mechanism. All I need to do is open up the dog leash spool holder and swap out the push button mechanism for a new one. I printed it with 0.2mm precision, using support on my trusty Prusa i3 Mk3 with PLA filament. My furry companion Olly (a rescue Shih Tzu) will be happy to get back to his daily adventures without any leash-related stress.
