The diameter is 18 mm. My resulting print got 17.5 mm, so I had to screw the sensor in with a pair of tongs. It's extremely tight, and I don't need the nuts to secure it. I used the M3 screws from the Geeetech printer kit from the bag labeled "24". They are a little too long (~1mm), so I used two washers for each screw.
