Auto-level sensor holder, for printrbot Simple 2014
thingiverse
My original version of the probe-sensor holder, distorted badly with heat, see last picture. So I had another go. This time I decided to strengthen the holder with some metal support. I originally was thinking of using coathanger wire, but a look in my odds and ends draw found a 65mm nail, it's 2.5mm diameter. This nail sits inside the main body. I have used it for about a week now and whilst it has bent slightly, I believe it will hold up. With only a week of test time this will stay as a work in progress for now. This is for the Printrbot Simple 2014 with wooden extruder. 28/05/2015 I never did get Auto-levelling to work CONSISTENTLY, go here to see how I went back to manual levelling. Bed Levelling/Height adjusting screw/clipshttp://www.thingiverse.com/thing:850245 Instructions It's printed as two halves. You will need a 65mm * 2.5mm nail. My nail was very slightly tapered, and so I had to file it round a bit at the top, this helped clean it up as well. And a couple of M3 bolts, mine are 10mm long. I think the pictures are self explanatory. The probe is about 40mm to the left of the extruder. I use M212 X0 Y0 Z-1.7 Then my start G-code is G28 X0 Y0 G28 Z0 G29 So my metal bed is 50mm longer on the X axis to the left. These settings work for me using bedlevel-v2-pb.hex onhttps://github.com/Printrbot/Marlin/releases Its about 90% effective. I messed about with X0 to X40 to X-40, it just went haywire. There are just some things/settings that are vague and unexplained! Or I am just dense, and cant see it. I am sure it will be sorted some time, and the probe holder will be useful. I just enjoy designing, for the sake of it.
