Auto Kennel Opener
thingiverse
Attach a motor and a hose clamp to the edge. Whatever side of the kennel you want to open or close, drill a hole near the shaft of the motor. This hole will be used for securing string by tying it to the shaft and stuffing it in one way or another. Once done, you should be able to turn on the motor and it will reel the string in. I recently salvaged a random hose clamp that fit perfectly with the motor and the dock. The motor itself is from a Roomba that suffered water damage - specifically a brush motor.
