It's worth watching a two-minute video preview before reading the description Click Here. Installation: Place three scripts into the Scripts folder (in My Documents Folder) of Maya. As you know, the standard "frame selection" function in Maya is the 'F' key. However, many users are unaware of the forgotten functionality within Maya - the "Auto Center Of Interest," a feature already present in popular apps like ZBrush and 3D Coat. The ktCenterOfInterest script adds three menu items to your panels: "Auto Center Of Interest," "Auto Look At (Viewports Selection)," and "Auto Look At (Outliner Selection)". By selecting polygon, vertex, edge, face, or any other element, the camera will automatically focus on the center of the selected nodes. You can then smoothly rotate the camera around it without experiencing an immediate change in camera view, mimicking ZBrush's autofocus or 3D Coat's F key functionality. Simply click to focus and navigate around the camera without the sudden jump associated with the "F" key. Usage: Under all four ViewPorts menu, select "Look At selection" > "Auto Center Of Interest." Click this menu to toggle it on or off. Updates: Version 3: - The "auto look at" function has been separated into two individual options. 1. "Auto Look At (Viewports Selection)" 2. "Auto Look At (Outliner Selection)" Version 2.1.3: - Updated for Maya 2019 - The "auto look at" functionality changed to only affect the active viewport when selecting something in the viewport. - "Auto look at" functioning in outliner now affects all viewports. Version 2.1.1: - Added compatibility with Maya 2018 Version 2.1: - Compatible with Maya Ext2 Sp2 (Maya2016.5 Extension 2 Service Pack 2) Version 2.0: - A new function, "Auto Look At," has been added to the viewport menus. Note: Compatibility with Maya 2017 and other versions may vary.
