Juan Miguel García Haro from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid's Department of Systems and Automation is working on the Máster de Robótica Industrial, focusing on improving OOML V2.0 (http://iearobotics.com/oomlwiki/doku.php). His project derives from Protobot by Alberto Valero (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:18264) and utilizes its base structure and wheels, while incorporating a plug-and-play design for US sensors. Further development includes another plug-and-play feature to hold CNY70 sensors (http://www.seeedstudio.com/wiki/index.php?title=Ultra_Sonic_range_measurement_module) for line detection and autonomous ground following. The robot currently uses an Arduino UNO, BT Arduino module, two Futaba3003 motors, two US sonar sensors, a connection board, two 9V power batteries, and 22 screws (3mm). Test videos include Crowler (http://youtu.be/NEXOzpVxYNo) and obstacle avoidance (http://youtu.be/MmDEe0WNYrA). To replicate the project, follow these steps: 1. Install OOML as per iearobotics.com/oomlwiki instructions. 2. Compile ProtoBot using cmake and set OOML include and library directories. 3. Run the protobot build program for OpenSCAD file generation. 4. Print Protobot.stl by Alberto Valero (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:18264). 5. Print SoporteUniversal.stl and SoporteSonar.stl. 6. Mount Arduino, protoboard on the main body using spacers and 3mm screws. 7. Attach Futaba S3003 Servo Motors to sides of the body (hack as per kronosrobotics.com/an116/GAN116_3003.html or darkomen.es instructions). 8. Mount both US sonar sensors. 9. Join SoporteUniversal and SoporteSonar with pressure, without screws. 10. Add more parts using SoporteUniversal for extra functionality like elesiguelineas and EleSonarGrande. 11. Learn from OOML by downloading protobotSensores.src, opening in Qt-creator, adding libraries, and reviewing code. 12. Share more videos soon!
