Autism Awareness Brain Puzzle
thingiverse
April is Autism Awareness month. To bring attention to this condition, I combined the puzzle piece, the recognized symbol for Autism, and the brain into a striking sculpture/puzzle. The result is a simple yet symbolic object that sparks conversation and provides comfort as you fit the two halves together. Autism awareness information can be found at Autism Speaks. Six files are provided, but there are only two main pieces: AutismAwareness_BrainPuzzle_Extrude.stl and AutismAwareness_BrainPuzzle_Recess.stl. The remaining four files are halves of these two models, allowing you to glue them together while preserving the surface detail of the brain and hiding layer lines. If you decide to make this object, please share your pictures. Developed by Graham Holt at Boston Children's Hospital Laboratories of Cognitive Neuroscience, it was modeled in TinkerCAD. Printer settings: MakerGear MakerGear M2 Resolution: 2mm Infill: 15% Printing notes: When printing the four pieces separately, rotate them to lay flat on your print bed. Bridging with PLA should be fine, but ABS may require supports. Post-printing instructions: Carefully line up the parts and apply super glue or Testor's Model Cement to secure them. Clamp the pieces down and allow them to dry before handling.
