Australopithecus prometheus is found in Makapansgat, South Africa, dating back about 3.0 million years ago. A plaster cast of this specimen measures 198 mm in length, 130 mm in width, and 111 mm in height. This cranium was cataloged as RLA number 1979rp1 and is a cast made by the University Museum of the University of Pennsylvania. It is part of the teaching collection at the Research Laboratories of Archaeology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and was modeled by Greer Taylor.
