Australopithecus africanus, a fossil discovery found in Sterkfontein, South Africa, dates back to 2.5 million years ago. The replica is made from epoxy resin and measures 186 mm long, 122 mm wide, and 112 mm high. Fossilized remains were unearthed by Robert Broom and John T. Robinson in 1947. A nearly complete adult cranium was discovered, earning the nickname "Mrs. Ples." The cast was created by Bone Clones, Inc., and is part of the teaching collection at the Research Laboratories of Archaeology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with model design attributed to Jordyn Gray.
