Australopithecus afarensis is a fascinating specimen found in Hadar, Ethiopia, with an age dating back to around 3.6-2.9 million years ago. A precise epoxy resin cast was created from the original fossil cranium discovered in 1992 by renowned paleoanthropologist Yoel Rak. Measuring 206 mm in length, 147 mm in width, and 106 mm in height, this remarkable replica is a testament to the ingenuity of Bone Clones, Inc., who crafted it with exceptional detail. This male cranium is notable for exhibiting evidence of sexual dimorphism, providing valuable insights into the evolution of our species. Currently housed within the Research Laboratories of Archaeology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, this cast serves as a vital educational tool, skillfully modeled by Jordyn Gray, and cataloged under RLA no. 2501.1rp13 for future reference.
