Singular work found in the so-called Aula Sacra, in the Peristyle of the Roman Theater of Merida. It would be part of a set of portraits imperial portraits, dedicated to the cult of the emperor. It is a representation of Emperor Augustus with a veil over his head, showing him as Pontifex Maximus, the highest religious authority.
