August Smartlock (not pro) 3rd gen to newer Defiant deadbolt adapter
thingiverse
Before purchasing an August Smartlock on Amazon, I double-checked the compatibility with my deadbolt. Defiant stated it was compatible; however, this wasn't accurate. A rapid Google search instead of trusting the August website led me to a webpage that showed newer Defiant models were not compatible. Therefore, I bought a Prusa i3 mk3 and designed an adapter for my deadbolt, similar to those provided by August. Although the dimensions aren't perfect yet, it works fine. I printed this adapter with 2mm resolution supports in Simplify3D, and I only added them at the tips of the parts sticking out. These supports practically fell off after printing without requiring any tools or force. The biggest issue is that the slot is too long. It doesn't affect function on my setup but could lead to issues if alignment isn't correct. I plan to revise this soon. Edit: The adapter worked well, and the slot length didn't seem to be a significant problem. I designed version 2, but then moved before testing it. So, version 1 is tested and working well, while version 2 remains untested. I seem to recall accidentally printing without supports, and it still functioned correctly.
