Auger OpenSCAD Library

thingiverse

This library creates a printable auger without support material, providing STLs for examples of usage with a parametric script. Customize features include adjusting radii, height, number of turns, and creating multiple-start augers. Additionally, you can vary tooth strength by modifying thickness, overhang angle based on printer capabilities, choose between left or right-handed screws, and add optional support material for an Archimedes' Screw design. The library respects $fs, $fa, and $fn. Successful printing has been achieved with a 20° overhang angle on an Ultimaker. If the printer's overhang angle is known, use it or try 20-30 degrees. This design offers smooth shapes instead of flat extruded polygons and allows easy thickness modification for tooth strength. However, underside angles are specified as overhang angles while topside angles are zero (flat), and fillets are currently absent due to difficulty in adding them. Future improvements may include variable pitch, radius, and top auger end customization. Ensure r1 is positive, overhang angle is between 0 and 60 degrees, flight thickness is printer layer thickness or greater, and minimum support thickness is double the extruded width. Turns should be input as complete turns or calculated from the angle.
