An automated pet feeder based on a Nema 17 stepper motor. Feed your pets at scheduled times or in specific amounts using a Raspberry Pi or Arduino, ideal for a pet feeding system, aquaponics setup, or related applications. I manufactured this feeder using PLA and printed the auger vertically. For the back of the feeder unit, I utilized knurled brass threaded inserts with an outside diameter of 6mm. You can find similar inserts on eBay at http://www.smooth-on.com/Epoxy-Coatings-XTC/c1397_1429/index.html. To assemble this feeder, first attach the motor plate to the Nema 17 stepper motor and then secure the auger to the stepper using a 3mm screw and nut inserted into the bottom of the auger. Next, insert the entire assembly into the feeder unit and attach it using four 4mm screws. I welcome your feedback on this project. It is available through my company Northern Layers at http://northernlayers.com.
