The new Audi TT RS packs a more potent punch than its Porsche 718 Cayman S cousin (350 hp), leaves many competitors in terms of behavior outshone, boasts an exterior design that elicits strong reactions, and an interior worthy of a science fiction movie. To truly grasp it all, test it out extensively. Introduced to society last April, the Audi TT RS has proven a persistent foe for me, repeatedly failing to pass through my hands due to reasons beyond my control. Three consecutive missed appointments ultimately culminated in a triumphant success on the third try. The vehicle kindly provided by Audi for our review features a Coupe body (Roadster version also available), along with a handful of extras: sleek white wrapping with black highlights, 20-inch wheels that sparkle like jewelry, and a striking appearance that shatters expectations wherever it goes. Despite its relatively modest length at 4.18 meters, the Audi TT RS deftly balances a stylized body design within such a compact size while preserving the essence of its original TT icon, radiating an air of sportiness and cutting-edge flair on all sides. When I refer to "all four sides," I mean it quite literally – both from up front and around the edges. The frontal assault is especially striking, with its menacing Singleframe grille accented by a bold 'quattro' logo beneath. It shares design cues with the RS6 Avant's notable nosepiece, which sets a high bar for aggressive design. Those massive air intakes along the sides contribute significantly to this menacing image. Any drivers encountering it in their rearview mirrors can't help but feel an edge of intimidation – an unsettling, heart-in-your-throat kind of sensation that lingers even after the car disappears from view. Moving around to the side profile of this TT RS reveals three pronounced body volumes, thanks partly to a 37 millimeter longer wheelbase than its predecessor. With this generous space, Audi can seamlessly integrate large, high-dollar options like these optional 20-inch wheels ($2,160) on the test unit we were handed. Consequently, this high-powered Audi presents itself differently depending on the viewer's perspective – as the view changes dramatically from front to side and around the corners. Aesthetics-wise, drivers often give a lot more weightage in judging speed, and in some contexts even an engine horsepower could go relatively under appreciated; however, not today!
