The Audi R8 is produced by German auto manufacturer Audi since 2006. Debuted on the Paris Motor Show circuit in 2006, three years following the unveiling of the Audi Le Mans quattro prototype - the car that inspired it. As direct competition, the Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini Huracan vie for attention alongside Porsche's high-performance Turbo 911. Conceived to pay tribute to Audi R8 LMP, which secured a record-breaking five victories at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, this new model pushes performance limits to unprecedented heights. Uniquely, Audi achieved central back engine layout for the first time in company history. One key reference point was the iconic Auto Union Type C. By placing the power unit at the center of gravity, Audi engineers aimed for nearly perfect weight distribution - an impressive feat of engineering. With a 44/56 weight balance achieved through precise calculations by renowned engineer Eduardo Vinuesa, the Audi R8 sets new standards in both style and substance. Entirely constructed from lightweight aluminum, its aerodynamic body design serves both functional purpose - improving airflow around the vehicle while cooling the high-performance engine - as well as aesthetic appeal, with carefully integrated air intakes adding to an already stunning visual package.
