Needed to repair my rear seat power compartment that just stayed open. The previous car owner's grandson apparently kicked it and broke it. I pulled it apart and found the broken part. (The stringiness on the original part is because I was trying to heat up the metal pin instead to remove it, but couldn't make that work)

<oembed url="https://youtu.be/u6FRmZztpEE"></oembed>

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Robo 3D

Printer:

R1 ABS + PLA Model

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

.14mm

Infill:

80%

Notes:

Supports are crucial here, given the way this part was designed. Be sure to have it supported well, and then clean up well so the parts can move smoothly.

Post-Printing

Rebar, of sorts

This requires a metal support to keep it from breaking under the sprung force. A used a safety pin, heating it up with a small torch and then pushed it in. The pictures show the result, given that I didn't have it very well secured... A small jig would have made it more stable and better result, but this ended up working just fine. The metal needs to go up to the top of the tip of the plastic to the bottom.rn

Category: Automotive
