Audi A5 (B8) armrest inlay with lid
thingiverse
One of the major drawbacks that really bothered me about my Audi A4 (B8.5) was how the centre console lid's contents were completely visible to anyone who cared to look, especially since I have it set up mainly in arm rest mode. So as soon as I spotted Marda86's innovative design, I quickly jumped on it. Despite having only a month of experience with my 3D printer and no prior background in 3D design whatsoever, I still couldn't resist wondering how the project would turn out. Several days later, I had the inlay printed with a working lid and a sleek black felt covering added to give it that extra special touch. To top it all off, I borrowed the logo from 3dexcel for a final flourish. I carefully divided the printing process into two stages, first printing the lid and frame separately before clipping them together at the hinges on the frame. The fit was remarkably snug, which ensured the lid stays securely in place whenever I use it.
