thingiverse

A sleek new earpad reinforcement ring designed to lock the earpad firmly in place on the driver plate, eliminating the potential for shear forces on the stock adhesive ring and preventing pad creep over time. Engineered to provide more than adequate hold without the need for adhesive, ensuring that the earpad remains secure during operation. To put it to use, remove the black plastic ring from the earpad back and carefully replace it with this sturdy printed ring, making sure the pegs face outwards. Securely position the larger tabs on top while aligning the pegs with the slots on the driver plate. Next, apply gentle pressure by inserting the back side of the tabs into the open side of the pad. The newly released version 4 of this earpad ring boasts enhanced security features - namely holes drilled into the standoffs to accommodate a paperclip or ferrous rod of sufficient size to bridge the studs on opposite sides of the driver plate. When passed through these holes, these rods are drawn to the powerful magnetic field generated by the magnets located on the other side of the driver plate. This provides a substantial securing force, keeping the earpad attached even when upside down. Moreover, this clever design also allows for easy removal. Noteworthy improvements are made in version 4, enabling successful printing at .2mm layer height - with one slight exception: a minimal clearance may remain at the top of the standoff near the hole. It's advisable to use a #60 drill bit to fine-tune the opening to prevent any potential seal leakage.
