Atri Cathedral - Tactile audio-guide
thingiverse
The model represents the Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta. This Cathedral is a Romanesque Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the town of Atri, Province of Teramo, region of Abruzzo, Italy. The 3D model is already divided for the buildplate of Makerbot replicator+ 3D printer. The 3D model is not a simple static replica, but there are 4 tactile sensors to be printed with a conductive filament. By wiring each of these parts with an Arduino UNO board and a capacitive circuit, 3D printing can be made tactile. An audio track is associated with each touch sensor, which allows information on the architectural element touched. The 3D design was created by a class of teachers of the IIS Volta of Pescara, within the Futurelab teacher training project.
