Atomos Docking Station Support Enclosure
thingiverse
I love having my Atomos Ninja write directly to SATA SSDs, however the docking station from Atomos leaves a lot to be desired. It effectively only supports and holds onto the SSD by the SATA ports. This made me feel uncomfortable, so I made my own little support enclosure. It includes guide rails that match the Master Caddy enclosure for the drives and provides robust support for the drive. If you'd like to support my work and/or purchase a printed copy of this, come on over to my Etsy shop!Etsy listing for completed print: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1645771207/case-for-atomos-powered-docking-stationPrinting suggestions:Standard layer height that works well for your printer. (I use 0.2mm)25% infill on the enclosure top and bottom body.I found 100% infill made it too heavy, but you can do whatever you'd like. I just found 25% feels good in the hand.5% infill on the light plug, using transparent PLA. (or other clear-ish plastic)Assembly:Assembly how-to video: https://youtube.com/shorts/1aUbuXzMfoII'm using the standard USB-C 3.1 Docking Station from Atomos, and it just presses into place. Just gotta squeeze it past the support rails that the Master Caddy rides along. For the top piece, there is a little "light plug" window, which I print at 5% infill and use "transparent PLA". This is translucent enough to still see the light, as well as providing a little extra support from the top, to keep the Atomos docking station pressed down into the enclosure. The light plug pushes into place from the "inside" of the enclosure, before screwing it together. For screws, I use m2x8mm flat top phillips head screws directly into the PLA plastic. The holes in the bottom part of the enclosure are sized for direct threading and seem to hold quite well without inserts. (If you wanted to use inserts, they could be enlarged perhaps.) The top part of the enclosure has countersinks for keeping the screw heads below the surface.
