Atomic Playset

thingiverse

Hey Kids! Want to unleash your inner mad scientist and craft your own molecules? The Atomic Playset is the perfect tool for you! Combine common atoms to create new and exciting molecules! H2CO3 makes your nose tingle (Carbonated Water) but H2SO4 will leave a burning sensation on your skin (Sulfuric Acid)! I firmly believe that the best thing anyone can ever do is draw from their own creativity. I had an absolute blast working on the Molecules project, but something was noticeably missing. Wouldn't it be awesome if you could just print a few atoms and connect them to create whatever you wanted? Atoms were born, ready to be assembled! I modified the original code to introduce sockets in the atoms and rods that can be used to link them together. Print as many as you like in any color you desire, using different colors will add emphasis. This project is dedicated to my neighbors, Laurie and Andrew. Thank you for your inspiration and guidance. Some of my favorite molecules: H2O - Water CO2 - Carbon Dioxide NO2 - Nitrous Oxide - Laughing Gas O2 - Oxygen NaCl - Sodium Chloride - Salt H2CO3 - Carbonic Acid - Carbonated Water H2SO4 - Sulfuric Acid C12H22O11 - Sucrose - Sugar C8H10N4O2 - Caffeine (Coffee) To read these formulas, C12 refers to the number of carbon atoms present, in this case 12. CO2 represents one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms. 7/4/17: Update V2 Version Rods. I've made them tapered for easier insertion and added a spacer in the middle to prevent over-insertion.
