Atomic Pi Case for Single Board
thingiverse
Atomic Pi, the SBC (Single Board Computer), demanded a snap-able case, so I created one. The Atomic Pi board sits upright on the bottom piece with five screw mounts, allowing for Dupont wires to plug into the female power header below. Six wires in total were used, and the bottom has an opening for the DC female power plug, which can also be replaced by running wires or cable out of this spot depending on the desired setup. A slot is provided for the battery cable to slide under the board as well. The bottom piece features six notches along its edges, two on each long side and one at each end. The top piece boasts an identical arrangement, with four grooves designed to accommodate the sides and snap into place, securing it firmly in position. This design made perfect sense when conceptualized. The top has openings for the HDMI plug, SD card slot, Ethernet port, USB ports, and reset BIOS button, while the heatsink protrudes from the top similar to the IOT case specifically designed for the Atomic PI with the breakout board. The bottom is sturdy enough not to require any supports. However, due to the requirement of long bridging in printing, I opt to print the top with extensive support structures every time, as attempting it without would be too daring for me. Earlier versions were printed in PLA (white) and looked fantastic. Nevertheless, I've since made some adjustments and am currently experimenting with PETG (blue) to achieve more flexibility. Although the blue PETG version appears unimpressive at present, I believe either material can successfully work with this design. My intention is to print the final version in PLA as well, but I wanted to share it right away. Dimensions: Bottom - 115.0 x 145.4 x 16.6 mm; Top - 117.0 x 147.4 x 24.8 mm I'm confident that someone will find this design useful and print it soon.
