My wife and I purchased two quadcopters from Sam's Club this week. After a few crashes and spending some time searching for the small quad after it crashed, I decided to see if I could design a protective propeller guard for it. I used this model as a reference: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:979878 This prototype weighs 0.089 ounces with 20% infill of PETG and takes less than half an hour to print. Installing the guard does result in a slight loss of power, but that also makes it easier to learn how to fly when starting out. The fit is pretty snug on our quadcopters. I recommend checking after each flight to ensure the guard isn't interfering with the propellers. Printing this design in bright colors makes the small quad more visible on the ground. You could also print it without the raised guards if you just want to be able to find it easier. I included the openscad source and a STL file for your reference. You can adjust some variables, but it might take a little experimentation with the numbers to make changes.
