Modeled after a cannon discovered on the shipwrecked Nuestra Señora de Atocha in 1622, this replica is an exact copy of the original. In 1975, Mel Fisher and his team found five bronze cannons near Key West, Florida. The following year, the cannon was gifted to the Queen of Spain as she participated in the commemoration ceremonies marking the twelfth centenary of North American Independence. The cannon bears a striking image on its first reinforcement - the royal arms of Spain accompanied by "DON PHELIPE III REY DE HISPANIA" and "D IV° D MENDOZA / SV CAPITAN GL DE /LA ARTILLERIA / 1616". I crafted this cannon using Autodesk Maya, sculpting it with Zbrush and refining the texture in Substance Designer/Painter. The royal seal's alpha was created in Adobe Illustrator. The seal looks more vibrant when viewed from different angles under changing light conditions.
