The Atmosphere Processing Plant, also known as the Atmosphere Processor (AP), Atmospheric Processor, or Atmos, is a large automated reactor designed to transform unbreathable, toxic atmospheres into habitable ones. It plays a crucial role in extrasolar colonization efforts. Weyland Corp initially developed this technology in the first half of the 21st century, which was later refined by Weyland-Yutani Corporation. Despite the fully automated conversion process, an APP requires a constant crew for maintenance purposes. Colonies, like Hadley's Hope on Acheron (LV-426), are often established to manage these machines. The Atmos is 1,500 meters high and powered by a 1.0 terawatt fusion reactor. The required crew size varies for its upkeep. Initially pioneered in the 21st century and further developed in the 22nd century, the Atmosphere Processor serves as a vital device for terraforming. It has a counterpart called the Atmosphere Pressurizer.
