Atmega8A-PU Filament Monitor with Optical Encoder for Marlin 1.1.x Firmware Second Version. This is the second version of a previously shared project on Thingiverse, identified by the URL https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2262683. For this upgraded iteration, I repurposed components from an old ball mouse, specifically the encoder wheel and infrared transmitter/receiver units. To facilitate smooth filament movement, I utilized two small pieces of PTFE tubing. The monitor has been divided into two distinct parts: one that can be attached directly to the extruder and another containing the sensor itself, designed for mounting to the frame. This modular design offers versatility in use cases. In my specific setup, I employed the sensor_support file to secure the monitor to the "Infill 3D 75 Geared Extruder," available on Thingiverse at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:443849. However, users may not require the sensor_case_filament_guide and sensor_case_support files, as they serve merely as examples of how the filament case can be utilized. Additionally, it's essential to adjust the sensor_wheel according to your specific needs, ensuring optimal functionality in your particular setup.
