Atlas V Rocket, 1/200 scale. Approximately 12" long. This model is a reproduction of the Atlas V model I originally created for a Kerbal Space Program mod, with only minor modifications made specifically for printing purposes. + *2019-07-31: Updated STL coordinates to reflect millimeters instead of meters with a scale factor. Additionally, the stand now features a label, and a 3-degree tilt.* Assembly is facilitated via pegs, which may require rescaling depending on your printer's tolerances. I based the size of the pegs on my own printer's output, knowing that the slicer and printer would result in walls being slightly too thick. A model with all parts arranged together for a single print job option is also available; however, I still recommend printing each part individually. While numerous space rocket models exist, I decided to create some of my own due to the difficulty in finding the right balance between detail and scale when specificity is key. Some models are highly detailed and intended for large-scale printing, while others feature low polygon counts resulting in visible flat faces on cylinders. Furthermore, not all models include scale information, making it unclear whether accurate dimensions were maintained. For my personal project, I am endeavoring to create a lineup of space rockets, past and present, at the same scale. I chose 1:200 because it strikes a balance between keeping small rockets from being too tiny and preventing larger rockets like the Saturn V and SLS from becoming enormous. My goal is to design models with very simple structures that are easy to print, sand, and paint while only implying intricate details if necessary, yet still retaining reasonably accurate dimensions and proportions. Many of my models are based on pieces I previously created for Kerbal Space Program mods, but redrawn with different details and polygon counts. At the time, I was recreating real-world rockets by matching their actual dimensions based on diagrams and measurements found online. I have done what I can to keep these reasonably accurate while simplifying or omitting various details, so please do not assume they are 100% perfect. I hope you enjoy!
