The low poly Boston Dynamics Atlas robot model, from the DARPA Robotics Challenge Trials in Miami, is available as open source via the drcsim project (https://bitbucket.org/osrf/drcsim) under Apache 2.0 license. It was created using MeshLab for simplifying convex hulls, special treatment for fingers and upper torso in Blender, editing URDF model, converting to Collada, importing to Blender again, adding cubes, repairing with netfabb cloud service, generating ascii stl, and uploading to Thingiverse. Printing at 60mm scale on a Replicator 2 yielded good results, thanks to FabLab Darmstadt for the opportunity to experiment.
