# Carriage Bracket for an Atlas 9" Lathe. Mine broke in the process of removing a broken gear. This bracket supports the shaft which transmits the handwheel movement to the rack for moving the carriage. Use grease in the bore, I chose silicone, use whatever floats your boat. ## Shaft Bore Shaft bore is oversized in the STL due to my printer undersizing holes. It should be 0.508 +0.004/- 0.002. I used a 13mm drill bit to clean up the bore and smooth out the plastic. You can always print it a little bigger if you don't care about the end play; it's not super precise. Much larger than 33/64" or 0.515" and the shaft is basically floating in there, so use your judgment. Designed in solvespace. I sized the bracket holes for M6 cause that's what I have on hand. You can obviously drill out the holes or change them to whatever. I believe stock, the lathe uses an imperial 1/4-20, so you can drill the holes out if you wish.
