Cosmo Wenman shares his 3D capture of the Skulpturhalle Basel's plaster cast of the Capitoline Museum's Testa Virile Elmata, a 2nd-century BC marble head adorned with an Attic-style helmet featuring a fourteen-point star and various creatures. The identity of this figure remains uncertain; some speculate it could be Miltiades, a strategist, or even Mars. Wenman's detailed capture is part of his project, "Through A Scanner, Skulpturhalle," which can be viewed on Thingiverse.com. The plaster cast lacks a plinth, so Wenman designed one modeled after the original marble's. He processed the scan with ReCap Photo and edited it using Blender for printing purposes. Standing at 448mm tall with over 2.9 million triangles, this 3D capture is a testament to Wenman's skills and the power of modern technology in preserving historical artifacts.
