Asymetric honeycomb bookstand MG
thingiverse
Asymmetrical honeycomb bookstand, engineered specifically for medium to large-sized books. Maximum allowed book thickness is 46 mm. Optimal book dimensions are approximately 20×30 cm; any taller volumes might cause the stand to tip backward due to an elevated center of gravity. The honeycomb design serves not only as a decorative element but also significantly reduces material usage by around 60%. Rotating the honeycomb pattern at an asymmetric angle yields a more visually appealing appearance and, in my opinion, produces joints that are stronger too. Print Settings: Rafts: Unnecessary Supports: Not required, though recommended for best results Resolution: 0.20 mm or lower Infill: A minimum of 25% is highly advised Notes: I printed the symmetrical version without support and was pleased with the outcome; a simple cleaning process revealed an acceptable finish. I expect this design to be equally straightforward to print. To achieve optimal results, incorporating supports is advisable, albeit this would approximately double the required material from around 30 grams to over 60 grams. The stand was printed using 0.19 mm Z-ABS layers on my Zortrax M200. For smoother details, I recommend utilizing 0.14 mm layers; however, any setting lower may not produce a notable improvement while consuming additional print time.
