The ASW 28 is a Standard Class glider with a fifteen-metre span, constructed from cutting-edge fibre reinforced composites. Alexander Schleicher GmbH & Co manufactures the ASW-28, where 'W' denotes it as a design by renowned German designer Gerhard Waibel. Production commenced in 2000. This glider accommodates one person and holds up to 200 kg water ballast. Its length is 6.59 meters, with a span of 15 meters and height of 1.30 meters. The wing area measures 10.5 square meters, while the aspect ratio reaches an impressive 21.4. DU 99-147 and DU 99-125 are the wing profiles utilized. The empty weight is 240 kg, with a gross weight of 525 kg. Its performance includes a maximum speed of 270 km/h, a maximum glide ratio of 45, and a rate of sink at 0.56 meters per second (equivalent to 110 feet per minute).
