ASU-57 airborne self-propelled gun (Russian)
thingiverse
This is a highly detailed 1:76 model of the post-war Russian airborne 57mm SPG. The printing process has proven particularly demanding, resulting in subpar tracks and a model that resists easy disassembly for separate printing. The original model was based on a skin model sourced from the SketchUp library (courtesy of Andrei M., to whom I express my gratitude), but nearly all of it had to be reworked due to persistent zero-thickness issues. I suspect these remaining challenges stem from this partial re-skinning not being thoroughly completed. Thickened and revised tracks were attempted to enhance printing quality, yet more refinement is required. This model measures up nicely as a small item, but may not scale down well for smaller scales; enlargement should pose no issue, however. I look forward to any feedback regarding this model, as I continue to explore the capabilities and limitations of this printing technology.
