Mounting a red dot finder scope is now possible on DSLRs, particularly Canon models, aiding astrophotographers in centering objects with conventional lenses. Although additional features like dimples for hot shoe location could be considered, the current friction-based design seems sufficient. This model was designed using SketchUp and printed on a MakerBot Replicator 2; it's best to stand it vertically for optimal edge definition. No support or raft is required during printing, while 3M tape can protect the bed from wear and tear.
