Wavytail on Etsy sells customizable wooden Astrolabes. They are quite good, I would recommend getting one from them if that is your interest. ( https://www.etsy.com/shop/Wavytail ) They offer two types of retes, wooden (more traditional model) and clear plastic. I couldn't decide so I got both, along with the rest of the hardware for a wood rete. The mater for the wood rete, has an additional layer of thickness to protect the rete, but it also blocks any side light from getting into the plastic rete, if you have that installed instead. That side light greatly facilitates reading the plastic rete. So, with the suggestion of the owner of Wavytail I made a 2.5mm spacer that you put BEHIND the latitude plate, thus raising the plate, and the plastic rete above the lip of the protective limb of the mater, and letting some light in. Of course, when you switch back to the wood rete, you can remove the spacer so that the wood rete is protected. I put 6 keyways (one at each spoke) so it is easy to mount in the mater, which has a keyway for the latitude plate. Pretty niche item but maybe somebody might benefit.
